Elean Power Station, at 38MW, is the largest straw burning power station in the world generating over 270GWh each year.
The emissions resulting from the straw combustion are monitored using a Quantitech analysis system overseen by a Citect SCADA application which provides the emissions reports necessary for efficient operation of the plant as well as meeting regulatory requirements set by the Environment Agency.
More Solutions Ltd were involved initially to maintain the existing system when the original installers were unable to do so. Over a subsequent period the application was rewritten to improve stability and to increase flexibility, which was necessary with changes in regulations requiring additional and more detailed reports to be generated.
