As a reseller of AVG we get a lot of people asking us how to stop AVG from slowing
the PC down when they first boot up. AVG actually performs a full system scan on boot up
and for some slower PC's this can cause a drain on resources and slow the PC down.
- You should have an icon of a black, red, white and green flag like the one below.
Double click it. If not then load it through the start menu. “Start > Programs >
AVG Antivirus > Control Center”.
- Click on Test Centre on the left. You should now have the AVG test center in-front
of you.
- Click on tests near the top of the window, you should see at the bottom of the
list “Schedule Daily Test”.
- You will now get another window popup, this will allow you to configure the
daily scan settings.
- Un-tick the “If missed, start immediately when user logs on”.
- This will now only ever perform a test if your PC is switched on before the time
shown, in this case 8am. If you also wanted to disable this you will need to
un-tick “Periodically start scheduled antivirus test”.
- Click OK, close AVG Test Centre and AVG Control Centre.
